Mr. Garrity concentrates in public relations, communications and organizational strategies for
businesses and organizations in the public and private sectors. Serving as the Chief of Staff and
Superintendent of Advancement for the Albuquerque Public Schools, Mr. Garrity provided
counsel to two superintendents on issues including legislative relations and strategy,
communications, election management for bond and mill levy campaigns, parent engagement
and communications, employee communications, labor relations, crisis strategy and response,
strategic planning and community relations. Mr. Garrity is the president of The Garrity Group,
a national public relations and consulting practice based in New Mexico.
Professional Activities:
In New Mexico, strategies developed by Tom Garrity have been honored with Best of Show
New Mexico Public Relations Society (Bond/Mill Levy Election Campaign) and Best of the
Best/Marketer of the Year New Mexico American Marketing Association ("I Am APS"
Campaign). In addition, The Garrity Group has been recognized as a Duke City 30 and Duke
City Dozen Company – a designation given by the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and
the New Mexico Business Weekly to the fastest growing companies in Albuquerque. Mr.
Garrity was also listed as a member of the 40 Under 40 and has been honored by the University
of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management as one of New Mexico’s youngest business
leaders. Mr. Garrity has shaped messages and represented clients including the Koch Industries,
New Mexico Public Education Department, Krispy Kreme, Albertson’s and Coca Cola.
